Drift Labs are a Series B workflow automation business with one of the strongest product design teams of any UK scale-up. They’re hiring a Principal Designer to anchor the most senior IC track — the designer who shapes the firm’s design language, holds the cross-cutting product decisions, and partners with the Head of Design on what the function becomes next.
This is a designer’s role, not a manager’s. The hire will own product surfaces that matter, define the systems and patterns that the rest of the design team consumes, and be the senior design voice in the founder-level product conversations.
Who fits: you’ve been Senior or Lead in a product-led design team for several years. You can do the work yourself, to a high standard, and you’re equally comfortable mentoring others to do it well. You have opinions about systems thinking, accessibility, and the relationship between design and engineering — but you’re not precious about them.
Stack: Figma, the usual research tooling, an unfashionable but well-maintained design system that Drift is actually proud of.
£150-180k + equity. Hybrid, twice a week in Old Street. Lead consultant: Jordan Reilly.
